random book meme

Cos it is wierd enough to be fun.

"Grab the nearest book. Find the 5th sentence on page 23. Append it to the paragraph below. Append your name to the list below of people who have contributed to the paragraph. Post the result to your LJ."

They also talk of our being guilty of injustice, and their being the victims of an unjustifiable war. Brandy, and Tom got increasingly close-mouthed and sour. Although a certain sense of tripartite society survived down to Christian times, the three classes described in the Eddic poem "Rigdthula" bear little resemblance to Dumezil's three. It is often argued, and still oftener thought, that none but bad men would desire to weaken these salutary beliefs; and there can be nothing wrong,it is thought, in restraining bad men, and prohibiting what only such men would wish to practice. At its nearest point the wall was little more than one league from the City, and that was south-eastward. When he saw Jack Hare jump towards the fire, and the Practical Man brandishing the toasting-fork, Sir Isaac grabbed the strings of gravitational force that bound Jack to his destiny and PULLED--- That's a seventy-four gun privateer, besides. To honour a group of British nobles, treacherously slain at a conference by Hengist's guards, Aurelius decides to erect a great monument near Amesbury. That being so, he did not chortle when he went upstairs. Let stand. This ensures that when the garbage collector runs, it has complete access to the memory in the heap and can perform its tasks safely without the threat of being preempted by another thread. And then you may begin to laugh. The data are stored in Column 1 and renamed "Age." Pull your hand back. I don't remember that any secrets were revealed to me, nor do I remember any avid curiosity on my part to learn something I wasn't supposed to--perhaps I was too young to know what to listen for. You don't remember how awful it is being normal. Highlight the desired state tax table and press Enter. Abraham had now reached a ripe old age, and the LORD had blessed him in every way. This doesn't alter either string, any more than 2+3 alters either 2 or 3. And I will say firmly that it is the author who says, "One does feel," who is really an egoist; and the author who says, "I believe," who is not an egoist. I too have noticed symptoms of the same sort of thing, a slightly put-on manner of affectation, perhaps a sort of aftermath of his fine performance in the School Play. Until the police killed all of her fish by emptying ashtrays into the tanks, Mrs. Bond had raised and sold tropical fish. There was a silence at the other end of the line then a woman's voice said 'You have reached the BT Cellnet answering service'. 'Thank you'. But if it had been thrown into the pool, and held below the water in the darkness by a stronger swimmer... 'And then I'll come home and cry 'Bianca, Bianca', and you'll be gone, and no one will know where you went.' Until that moment, I would have said that the old town was established, settled, mature. The pattern rule target must start with the prefix and end with the suffix (if they exist). If we track him down and point a musket at him, it should convince him that it's time for him to move on, I hope. No one came here for the sun or the sand, and no beaches had been cleared.
Bpal - Maelstrom imp club

Forgive me for doing bpal stuff outside the filer but this is specificaly so it can be public and people can be pointed here who arn't on my LJ.
As I keep enabling people and to be fair so does Tom specifically at Maelstrom It has been suggested we set up a Maelstrom imp club. Now I am not pregant and Ed is a little bigger I'm back to my addictions :)

For those that don't know the lab does limited edition perfumes every month on the full moon and they often bring out new more general ones at the same time. They also do other limited editons every now and then such as on Friday 13 and so on. They don't do imps of such perfumes so it is common for people to club together to buy a bottle and split it down. At the same time you can always order other bottles and imp packs to make use of the postage as there is a flat rate shipping over here up to I think it is 12 bottles or imp packs. If we only wanted a bottle or two I would add them into a UK group order that I sometimes use and the shipping is even less then sometimes even free though there is then postage from the person running the order within the UK.

So the suggestion is we set up a Maelstrom imp club.. we could also arrange swaps and things so we can all try more imps as well but mainly so we can see if people want to order stuff at the Lunacy each month and it can then be delivered to people at the next event at least over the summer. Of course we would probably let none Maelstrom players join to if they really want to :)

The current two Limited Editions are below and only out for a couple of days so shout soon.

HAY MOON
Hay absolute, tall grasses, dry honey, mallow, cardamom, amber, and wheat.

MEAD MOON
Golden mead, fermented with gruit, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, ginger root, sweet-briar, rosemary, and lemon.

There is already plans to get Mead moon so if anyone wants an imp of that please say so I know how many bottles to order.. currently no plans to get Hay moon as I don't go near wheat but if others wanted I I could order a bottle and give someone else the task of decanting it.. outside my house.. not that I'm paranoid or anything but my hands once stopped work after holding a warm wheat pack for a few moments so i hate to think what wheat essecal oil would do to me!

Ordering sewing and embroidery threads

(Health warning - for Haberbashery addicts.. do not click these links if you are feeling weak!)

I am planning to do orders to a couple of thread suppliers in the next week and wondered if anyone else wanted anything while I am at it. If you live close, I can pass it on via mutual friends or you are going to be at the summer court player event then it should save on postage and so forth.

The first company is Empress Mills
I actually can't find their delivery charges on the site but as I'm putting in a fairly large order anyway i wouldn't expect anyone else to contribute specifically, though if anyone from the local sewing circle wants to throw a few pennies in the pot to cover thread used here it would be appriciated..

I have used their general sewing threads for years and consider them one of the best, on a par with the more expensive well known brands but cheaper and on much more sensible size roll. I generally use the 120 polycore as a general thread as it combines the best properties of both synthetic and cotton, however they do other sorts as well.

As I said the 1000m cobs are a good size but I also use the bigger 7500m cones for base colours like black and natural and the price is very good on those. For a domestic machine I put them on the table behind the machine and it seems to work, though a stand made from a piece of wood with a dowel to put the cone on would make things more stable.

I am less keen on their machine embroidery threads as the couple I have used have been overly slippy and the other company I am ordering from does Maderia cobs for less. That said they arn't dreadful and with all these things each company gives a different effect so I don't want to put anyone off trying them.

They also do some heavy threads good for leather and the like, a good colour range of beading thread, some basic silk (useable on a machine which isn't common) plus overlocking threads like bulk nylon if anyone uses that at all. Plus some haderdashery stuff.

The second company is Barnyards which specalises in machine embroidery threads but also does a lot of hand embroidery threads and other stuff including things like stabalisers, boxes to keep thread in and so forth. I am a member of their club so get 10% off pretty much everything. Orders over £50 are free p&p.

Machine embroidery thread wise. They do a huge range of Maderia threads at good prices. They are also rapidly expanding the range they cover from a company called Superior. I have only used a couple of them so far but have been very impressed. They specalise in cotton embroidery thread which give a matt effect compared to Rayon that standard machine embroidery thread is made of but I like the effect and sometimes combine the two. Both ranges also do metalics. I've used Maderia and they are good though they do loop if you arn't careful and I'm planning to try out the superior ones in this order. Superior also does a huge range of bobbin thread colours rather than just the normal white and black.. not sure how needed that is but in some cases I can see it being an advantage and improving the look of the embriodery especally on sheer fabrics where the bobbin thread shows more.

I am planning to get one of the metallic taster sets which gives you bobbin thread and needles as well, often the sample sets are one per order but i can't see that on these ones and if you want to try it looks a good offer.

There are currently three different goody bags available which are always very good value if you want to try a range of stuff out, these tend to be one per order but i believe it's one of each. I am considering getting the superior one but if anyone else wants one or indeed what's that one or part of it then say and we will see if we can come to some sort of arrangement.

cornbread

I know some people on here know more about cornbread than I do.. as in you have eaten it before !

I made some last night cos. well it seemed like a good idea and I wanted to try other options that might work better gluten free. I used this recipe and you can see a pic of it on my cooking blog.

It rose well, seemed very cakey, but most gluten free stuff does, and was extremely sweet. I quite liked it but I didn't expect it to be so sweet. Is that normal?

There seem to be two types, well probably more than two but anyway one you cook in the oven, which is what I did and one you cook in a griddle. The second type tends to have buttermilk in them which I didn't had but would probably cut the sugar some.

Plastic Bottles

OK strange request but I want to collect a bunch of plastic drinks bottles. ie coke, lemonade etc. When I say a bunch I do want a good few. enough to build a greenhouse in fact. Yes I know I'm mad but if anyone is willing to keep any bottles they use and chuck them in my direction when they see me that would be great. Probably more sensible for those around Coventry than others but you never know.

If you use any of the bigger water bottles, the square ones, I'll take those too. They make good cloches (mini individual greenhouses.)

First day at school

I'm making this public so Tom can link to it for those on his LJ and not mine if they care to read it.

As he already said there was some tears at 8am due to not being allowed to go to school then. Mostly cos he wanted to get to school NOW but a little bit I think was wanting Tom to take him. After than I got told repeatably to look at the time and check we weren't late.!

He walked there holding both mine hand and Jon's so i think he was nervous and as we got there he kept asking if his friend was there. Once he realised he was all was good and off they shot together. His friend's mum was leaving and when we asked we were told we were to go to!!

Today is only a half day so we are picking him up after lunch. He is used to eating lunch at nursery but has never been in a school dinner hall before which may be a bit of a system shock so we will see how it goes. I was told this morning he wanted to have tea there as well !! He is used to being at nursery till about 5.30 so school is actually going to be quite a short day for him though i still expect it to be tiring to start with just because it is all new.

The King of Hearts (Rosewood and black cherry with white musk, red rose, red musk and a spark of lavender.)
In vial - quite aggressive, almost almondy which is probably the cherry
on me - strong aggressive slight off chemically cherry, Eventually goes to a musky lavander which isn't too bad but nothing I'd wear especally as I'm not a cherry fan.
On Tom - Ekk. Nasty get it off me.. really unpleasent on him.
definetly one for swapping, sure someone will like it 2/10

Cheshire cat (Grapefruit, red currant, dark musk, Roman chamomile, delphinium, and lavender)
In vial - fruity, grapefuit
on - grapefuit but with a twang underneath, oily feel to it think it's lavander..Wakes you up but at the same time you want to go to sleep. Very weird effect. Goes sweeter overtime, might be the current coming out? What to try it again as it may grow on me 6/10

White Rabbit (Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen)
In vial - sweet, smooth, tikkle of ginger
On - crisp, almost lemony but not quite. Clean, can just feel the spices but as a backdrop. Warm and homely. The pepper comes out quite strongly later. It layered nicely with Dorian which made titsweeter and knocked the edge off the pepper which I found quite strong. Will try again to see if i always get that as the rest is very nice 6/10 on own but more when layered.

Mad Hatter ( A gentlemen's lavender-citron cologne unhinged by the feral pungence of black musk and a paroxysm of pennyroyal)
In Vial - Peppermint sweets
On - Minty with a dusky undertone, can just pick out the lavander. Would be very good when you have a cold defintely clears the nose. Almost extra strong mints. Can see this being good in the right mood. 7/10

All from the Mad Tea Party.

On a related note I got some empty vials so can do decants from the bottles. Plus I found a box I've had for ages which is specifically desigend to take bottles the size of the 5mls. I used to use it for a previous LARP characters alchemy kit. So the bottles are safely in there. It holds 12 so I'm not sure how long it wil last me but enough for now. I have made a box for the imps from card which will again do for now.

Every now and then it takes on a more herbally/earthy edge but mostly cinnimon sweets which is fine by me. 8/10

Hellcat (A soft, sensual, luxuriant blend with a wicked bite: hazelnut, buttercream, honey mead, rum and sweet almond)
In vial - hazelnut syrup like hazelnut hot chocolate without the choclate
on - wet - honey, there is alcohol, meady definetly but light.
Dry - definely butterscotch and nuts coming though, it seems to be making me slightly quezy though i quite like the smell. reminds me of hazelnut schnaps we had once. Had to wash it off as was still feeling ill but as my stomach seems a little fractous that might not be the perfume's fault. While I like the smell it doens't gell with me as something I'd wear.. 5/10

Loralei (A tragic heroine from German lore. In despair over a faithless lover, she threw herself into the Rhine. In death, she has become a siren that haunts that river to this day, luring sailors to their doom. Neroli, sandalwood, ylang ylang.)
In vial - light floral a hint of citrus
on - floral.. summer flowers, with a depth from the sandlewood. Quite heady and warm, definatly sad feeling.
dry - Every now and then get a catch of something like orange but not there when I smell up close. Up close a sweet version of sandlewood. Disappears quite fast though I didn't put much on.. Nice for the right mood or if I wanted something fairly tradition perfume smelling. 6/10

Anne Bonny (A blend of Indonesian red patchouli, red sandalwood, and frankincense)
In vial - dry almost peppery
on - warm, smooth. slightly sweet. incency, has a salty tang, 8/10

Crossroads (The forks of the road: an in-between place, sacred and tangibly magickal in innumerable cultures and faiths. This scent is dark with mystery, taut with power. A chill twilit garden of blooms over dry earth and mosses, heavily laden with incense and offertory herbs.)
In vial - dark, floral
On - dry, incency, dark. Almost feels like a wave of heat is coming off my arm but when I breath in it's cold. Later definete warm feel off it like being in a glasshouse as it gets dark and the night flowers have opened. 7/10

Bpal reviews

Hormones seem to have settled down enough so everything isn't smelling aggresisve now which is good. So a bunch of reviews for those who care.

Lighting - very powerful. Ozone and something citrus but a green smell.. lime or possubly lemongrass. I like it a lot but would have to be in the right mood to wear it. 7/10

Knave of hearts - In the vial - smells of slighty burnt jam..
on my skin - Sweet pastry and caramel to start. I can taste the rose rather than smell it.
pretty, quite sweet but i find myself liking sweet ones which suprises me. 7/10

Zombi - dried musty roses left on the stem.. Intruging, very acurate smell 7/10

Embarming fluid - wierd, soapy, a little bit citrus but not very nice on me. 4/10

Jersey Devil - slightly musky-pine to start with but quite sweet and tart as well. Can't smell tomato leaf up close but getting a waft of it when I'm typing. It keeps changing and I get wafts of different things. Settles down after a while to a deep berry with a background of a soft pine, just enough to cut the sweetness. Love this one. Hours later mostly gone but there is still a sort of bubblegun smell. 9/10

Dorian - in the vial light fresh tea with lemon.
on the skin
(Tom ) very creamy.. he said cream soda. almost a hint of strawberries, gets more musky but still light and soft.. . stays quite sweet and femine but not girly.. Perfect for the Compt. 9/10
(me) straight away more sugery on me and the lemon is there which it isn't not Tom soft, milky lemony sweet a fresh lemon moose perhaps but with a warm kick (musks?) then goes to warm tea and vanilla sugar 8/10

The Bow and Crown of conquest - can smell the sage in the bottle.
(Tom) Aftershavy to start with, quite astringent . reminds Tom of his mum's poison purfume. Mellows and the musk come out a bit after a while but stays more masculine.. good for Tom rather than the Compt. 7/10
(me) lavander and vanilla is more evident on me actually less astringent on me which is a first. on me mellows to something quite sexy.. still a tange of lavander/ceder to keep it tart but warm and almost sweet too. 7/10

De Sade - hard agressive leather, smokey and heavry tanned veggy tan newly done rather than worn in soft leather. Sarah says it last for ages on her.. Not sure I'd wear it on it's own and I can't really rate it as a perfume as I'm not sure I'd use it on it's own.

Our long awaited order is here.. lots and lots of imps, most for us but some for a friend.

I have the problem everything is smelling and indeed tasting as if it has a nasty purfume behind it when i put it on which i think is me and hopefully with go a way in a few days. So no real reviews for a few days

Bottle of Harlot - a very different rose to the ones we currently have.

Many, many imps, cos we ordered lots and had five more freebees.
DORIAN
THE KING OF HEARTS
MAD HATTER
CASANOVA
WHITE RABBIT
CHESHIRE CAT
SIN
O
DE SADE
EMBALMING FLUID
CALICO JACK
THE JERSEY DEVIL
Van Van
Knaves of hearts
zombi
The Bow and crown of conquest
twilight

and these which arn'tt mine.
ANNE BONNY
LIGHTNING
SERPENT'S KISS
HELLCAT
CROSSROADS
LORALEI

Bpal and smells at roleplay events

Tom mentioned on his LJ that we had got a bunch of Bpal recently. For those who don't know these are purfume oils that have a certain cult like following. They comes from America and the order turn around was about a month though currently they seem to have caught up a lot.

We got them mostly cos we wanted to something for Maelstrom for the Millen corination and Lovers day event. The original order didn't come in time (it should be here end of this week or beginning of next i hope) but we, well i ordered a few more bits from ebay which did arrive in time. We recieved 5 bottles but it seems it is normal practice to include some free imps (sample vials) so we got 8 more to try out.

Marina had already decided she was using rose sented incence for lovers day and we ended up with several rose based ones and these were handed about as well as a few of the others. i made up a spray by the simple method of water and oil in a atomiser, shake and spray which works fine when used fresh. Most people who came to the ball accepted the offer and many thought it smelled wonderful. I hope it added a little extra something, i think it did.

Now for the list of what we have for the Bpal addicts out there. I will make this post public so Tom can direct people here. Some comments and the Lab's discriptions where I have them. I am very inexperinced at discribing smells however.

5 bottles all Limited editions I believe

Sleepy moon - "A nearly-narcotic blend of opiate-touched bark and blossom reflective of the bleakness and solitude of winter, the quietest point of the year : black opium poppy, bamboo pulp, ylang ylang, lavender, chamomile and white sandalwood. "
Nice on Tom and Sarah.. horrably agressive on me.

Sylph - Lavander based .. nice it's lavander and stuff.

Mars - Cinimmon, Cloves , something floral.. very strong feeling.. I like it and can see me wearing it when i want to be confident. Tom found it too over powering on him.

Venus - discribed by one reviewer as pink and green. Rose and mint in the bottle. soft rosey smell on Tom, we ended up with this as the Compt's smell... much more mint on my going to atrinegent perfume smell is best i can explain it.. not very good in other words.

All saints "All Saint's - Based on a venerable French pontifical incense blend: monastic frankincense and myrrh, Damascus rose, Russian gardenia, cassia, and lily of the valley wafting on a chill Autumn wind. A celebration of the glory and suffering of the saints and matryrs of the Church."
A nice rose with extras.. bit sweet, bit spicy. Seemed to work on most people. this is the one I used in the spray.

8 Imps. (think these are all general catlogue)

Persephone - "From the Bewitching Brews collection: Beautiful, radiant daughter of Demeter... her loveliness was so exquisite that even Hell itself could not resist her. Pomegranate and rose." as it says on the tin a fruity rose.

Black Phoenix - "Our signature oil. A dark, languid scent. Promotes hedonistic tendencies and extreme self-love. You won't stop kissing mirrors for a month." not tried it yet but smells of armonds so a little wary as I don't always get on with them.

Centzon Totochtin: "The Four Hundred divine rabbits of the Aztec pantheon that preside over parties and drunkenness. Bittersweet Mexican cocoa with rum, red wine, and a scent redolent of sacrificial blood." not tried.. smells of strong coffee, again not something i get on with so havent' tried it yet.

SHANGO -- T"he Wrath of God, the Most Beautiful Lord of Lightning, the Owner of All Palaces. The Master of Lightning's ofrenda contains red apples, banana, chili pepper, coconut, pineapple, pomegranate and sugar cane." Interetsing.. impossible to discribe. Can't decide if I like or not. Certainly has a chilli edge to it.

HELL'S BELLE -- "Sweet, smoky and sensually wicked. A thick, steamy scent, truly sinister in its voluptuous sexuality. The perfume of a demon's favored consort, or of the devil herself. Oleander with wet, sweet mandarin, lush magnolia, a rush of deep musk and a touch of spice." I like this one. a musky floral can see wearing it in the evening.

Frumious Bandersnatch - "Bandersnatch musk, redolent of spicy carnations, wild plums and chrysanthemum." Like this one very much. many have to get a bottle of it. a slightly spiced juice plum.

Akuma - "Devilish temptation, as sweet as sin: blood orange, neroli, and raspberry." wierd.. smells like refreshers on me and a raspberry version of those small purple violet flavored sweets on Tom if you understand what i mean.

Squirting Cucumber - "Yikes! A spurt of wet, grassy greenness" smells like cucumber in the vial and when i first put it on but rapidly truns to dry grass which is a shame. Stayed more cucumber on Nikki.

For this I have learnt things smell very different on different people sometimes. Tom and I have very different skin chemistry and mine seems the one which warps things to something different to what it smells in the bottle more. Men in general seem to have a less well developed sense of smell or at least mine do. Though i suspect my brother would be the exception to that.

Maelstrom update

Well I think it all went well. Certainly seemed to and I am happy all the work actually seems worth it though i don't plan to be involved in hosting for a while now..!!. I don't think anyone could have missed who was hosting as we took up a good chunk of the main field and there was much green and gold in evidence.

The corination happened all be it late. The Regent or in fact anyone else of consiquece didn't die. Well Flembics and malthians did but not related to the corination. Plot threw a wonderful bunch of characters at us to make our lives more complicated. Religous stuff got 'interesting' our Bishop is going back to the old world becouse he has been accused of various things by people outside of Millen.

The ball and commoners party went well in different dways i think and many people unrelated to it seemed to run with the Lovers night idea which was very cool.

OOC so many people pulled together and contriduted in different ways that i am really proud of the whole of Millen and indeed several who are only associated with us. Thanks Guys.

kitchen and christmas

Kitchen is mostly in. Looks great. We have a working oven but not sink and hob, partly as we need to seal the wooden work surface both sides before it is fixed in place.

Ovens are great, though i forgot that real ovens throw hot air out when you open them and nearly burnt my face! Need to do some baking etc to try out various functions. We opted for a middle range one as I couldn't see us using special steaming options and just bottom heat etc at least not enough to pay the extra, we do have a bread cooking setting plus a dough proving one though. Did buy the telescoping rails as an extra so when I am using a heavy dish the whole shelf can be pulled out to check, stir etc.

Did you know a warming drawer is almost as much as an oven! Didn't get one of those either, if i'd got a rayburn they come as standard. We still don't have lights or sockets working though, letters will have to be written I think expressing our discontent. However the place is starting to look like a home not a building site which is amazing.

Spreading christmas over a couple of days, partly to spread out presents for small one so he doesn't get over loaded and partly becouse we have been madly putting things away and making spece for the tree, table etc now we have kitchen cabinets. Small one was very sweet christmas morning. First time he really understood the idea of santa and he was fairly convinced there would be snow which he was disapointed about BUT when he found his stocking he was delighted and thought everything was totally wonderful even things like satsumas, he still thought it was wonderful when he was getting it all out a second time to show me!

Kitchen and stuff

The piping all worked (I might even do the connecting myself next time) and we now have a floor and paint on the walls, at least where it will show as we were a bit short on paint so some bits where there will be cabinets haven't been done. Haven't sealed the floor as we bought the wrong stuff but it's oak so not too much of a problem and I'll get something tomorrow and at least do the bit that will be walked on etc.

We even had one of the builders lads turn up with window glass and he claims he is back in the morning to fit it plus the back door and the skip should be going. We will see, be nice if his boss bothered to ring us and tell us what is going on.

I have a cold, sore throught and am aching but otherwise tis good. Now we just need the kitchen fitter to turn up and preferably an electrican too!.

roleplay player meme

You scored as Character Player. The Character Player enjoys creating in-depth characters with distinct and rich personalities. He identifies closely with his characters, feeling detached from the game if he doesn't. He takes creative pride in exploring different characters, often making each new one radically different than others he's played. The Character Player bases his decisions on his character's psychology first and foremost. He may view rules as a necessary evil at best, preferring sessions in which the dice never come out of their bags. For the Character Player, the greatest reward comes from experiencing the game from the emotional perspective of an interesting character.

Storyteller

80%

Character Player

80%

Casual Gamer

50%

Tactician

45%

Weekend Warrior

45%

Specialist

30%

Power Gamer

25%

</td>

What RPG Player (Not Character) Type Are You?
created with QuizFarm.com

Tis probably about right to be fair.

Kitchen

Units are here and the ovens are coming tomorrow.. we have NO room with it all stacked about.

Pipes are in just waiting on the plumber to come and help me connect up, didn't fancy flooding the place and it has been a while since we did the last one. Hope to pick it up enough to do the next zone which i currently plan to lay first thing in the new year. Still waiting on him to manage to get the electrician to come chat so we can work out who is doing what re the control system so can't put it on till then.

Need to do some sorting and putting away of tools , kitchen stuff etc and move the boxes of units round so i can get to the floorboards and start laying them. Rapidly running out of brian power to think straight.

Kitchen update

Well apparently the units will arrive tomorrow morning before 12! We have ordered all the extra stuff which came to loads. How come all the extras like cookers etc come to more than the units even when you go for more expensive units.. Oh wait maybe we went for more expensive cookers etc as well :) We also have more things this time, like microwave combie oven and dishwasher. We are replacing everything except the fridge/freezer. About the only thing i havent't got now is tiles but they go on last.

Things have mostly gone well getting ready. We don't exactly have a floor yet but nearlty. I am however serious unimpressed with my builder just at the moment. Haven't heard from him since late last week and still have no power or window glass in the kitchen.

We have all been working hard on the floor. First we had to remove the old floorboards, hard work especally trying not to distroy them, some have been saved but we have decided to have new ones in here and then the saved ones will be useable to fill in elsewhere in the house. So new oak floorboards are acclimatising. Then batterns were put on the sides of joists to hold plywood and heating and underneath to give enough space for insulation. Jon has been hanging solid insulation below the joists, damianobf has been tablesaw king and cut boards to fill all the gaps and I have been weilding crowbar and shovel to break up most of the hearth so we can insulate it a bit plus make sure there is a damp barrier and replace the joist that runs across there as it is a little rotten plus remortering bricks that don't seem to be stuck together anymore. We have a damp problem along that wall at the moment which didn't used to be there but hope it is just caused by seepage from the slabs in the drive sinking where the new drain went in. Will be having them re-layed higher so there isn't a dip where the water collects like there is at the moment. Underfloor heating pipes go in tomorrow which is the easy part and i have a promise from my friendly heating plumber that he will have one of his lads pop in and make sure the pipes fill and don't leak before we put the floorboards on top. Friday is laying floorboards and the kitchen fitter should be with us Monday.

keep fingers crossed for us that we have the kitchen finished by christmas.

Roleplay meme

Becouse others have done it and it sounded fun.

Name 12 characters you have played in RPGs/LRPs, before looking at the questions that follow. List your characters numbered 1 to 12, with the name of the RPG/LRP you played them in. Once you've picked your 12 characters, look at the questions and answer accordingly. (No peeking until you've picked your characters!) Put your answers behind a LJ-cut.

1) Casey, VIP
2) Mist, superhero
3) Katarine, Ars Magica Mage
4) Lady Packington,CAM
5) Keser/Keresh, Stargate
6) Flash, Shards
7) Oriel, Maelstrom
8) Amathyst Golddigger, Warhammer
9) May Li, Feng Shi
10) Alisha, Under coventry (OK technically she's an NPC but far to good not to include here)
11) Janget, Shards
12) Meena, Star Wars

1. Who would make a better college professor: 6, or 11?

Well Flash was a real absent minded professor, her lectures would be interesting, Janget would be very serious if very knowledgable, her lectures would be very dry.

2. Do you think 2 is hot? How hot?

In a way yes I suppose she might be, she probably wouldn't notice the interest though and is quite reserved in real life. Unless of course the bad guys plans to marry her off had worked in which case she would have been offically hot, having been transformed into a dragon for the marriage

3. 12 sends 8 on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed?

Humm, star wars jedi sends a warhammer dwarf on a mission, would have to involve stealing something or investigating a problem then stealing something, money would definatly be involved somewhere along the line. Yes it probably would succeed but there would be fall out.

4. What is, or would be, 9's favourite book?

Hum anything trashy that she could read to escape from the maddness that is real life.

5. Would it make more sense for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around?

Neither though they might make good team mates. Mist the phasing superhero and Flash, fire elemental and in another universe she could be a superhero too.

6. For some reason, 5 is looking for a room-mate. Should they share a studio apartment with 9, or 10?

Hum Interesting one. Newly joined Toc'Ra shares with a transformed Dragon or a club owning Vampire. They would have to come off world as I can't see the powers that be allowing a Toc'Ra to live on Earth but you never know. Alisha I think they could happily accept each other need for space and Alisha would happily have conversations with Keresh plus she would be perfectly able to 'convince' people to recuit her if she wanted, the not going out in the sun bit might be a problem though.

7. 2, 7, and 12 have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?

Mist, Oriel and Meena. Somewhere with good food and a nice atmoshere maybe a gastro pub. They would enjoy having a night out with the girls and chat about silly things becouse most of the time thier lives are too serious. Once the drinks kicked in a bit they would probably get on to why can't the world be a simpler place with less bad guys and how could they help each other deal with their various problems.

8. 3 challenges 10 to a duel. What happens?

Can't see her being that stupid. Though I suppose there might be situations where she might if she thought Alisha was a mage in which case it would be a magical duel which could get interesting becouse while Alisha can't do magic she isn't defenseless in that area. What happens would depend on the situation, Alisha might just disappear or she would request to have a discussion before it starts, something that looks like a duel would take place, Katarine would seem to win and they would wander off to discuss how they could work together in future.

9. If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would they get it back?

She'd request the help of a few friends who are good at reaquiring things and they'd go in after some investigation tooled up to deal with vampires, undead, demons and general thugs. They would probably get spotted by the electronic secirity, them being more used to physical and magical stuff and it would get very messy.

10. Suggest a title for a story in which 7 and 12 both attain what they most desire.

A Stitch in Space
Some sort of world rifting story where the Sith turn out to be the same as Maelstrom fallen edilons or whatever runs them.. they all get defeated and Millen in the old world is reclaimed.

11. What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 and 1 to work together?

Shouldn't be hard they are both vampries who call Coventry home so any outside threat should work.

12. If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?

Yes, we'd spend the weekend discussing sewing and swapping tips, shopping for fabric etc.

13. If you could command 3 to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be?

Hum not sure really, she is an Intelligo/ Imigonem master and pretty good at other forms of magic too. Get her to magic me up some really fantastic form of wall art, maybe a big picture wall which can show images depending on my mood.

14. Does anyone on your friends list resemble 11 (either in appearance or personality)?

No not really, except me of course cos she is a LARP character so be default looks like me! So I suppose she looks a bit like Dave too, family resemblence and all that.

15. If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5, which would it be?

Keser definetly. Mist would have a hard time convincing herself to work with a vampire, Keser seems more human though the idea of having a symbiot would take a bit of getting used to. Keser is a nicer person anyway.

16. What might 10 shout while charging into battle?

She wouldn't charge into any battle, that's what werewolf doormen are for! That said anyone who did get past the musle might hear ' you SO picked the wrong club to do over' in thier heads just as they realised they couldn't move any more.

17. If you chose a song to represent 8, which song would you choose?

gold gold gold gold,
though that doesn't really do her justice.

18. 1, 6, and 12 are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it?

Flash would happly settle for finishing off the bottle of chilli sauce instead and Casey would conced she didn't actually need to eat, so Meena would get it. the touch of force which meant it moved a few inches towards her at the relivant moment wouldn't hurt either.

19. What might be a good pick-up line for 2 to use on 10?

Hum never going to happen that way round. However if Alisha liked the look of Mist then Mist might notice the entrance to the lower floor of the club, met the nice friendly lady on the way down the stair and get chatting. Later she would never be able to remember why she started talking to her just that she was very attracted to her. Might result in one of her team mates having issues with Alisha when he spotted the mental persuasion that had been used though.

20. What would 5 most likely be arrested for?

Treason.

21. What is 6's secret?

She isn't human, so secret even she didn't know for a long time!

22. If 11 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first?

Would depend on the terrain and available transport. If it was modern day with cars etc May Li but across a desert or even just on foot Janget every time.

23. If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 or 8?

Amathyst as she is more obviously a bad idea to attack.

24. 1 and 9 reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4's sinister secret organization. 11 volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that he/she is actually a spy for 4. Meanwhile, 4 has kidnapped 12 in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5, they seek out 3, who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fic?

Casey and May Li team up against Lady Packington.. Jangjet is the help/spy. Lady P is holding Meena hostage. They get advice of Keser/Keresh and get something off Katarine to help So it would have to be something achient, obscure and possibly magical or high tech quite possibly being held on another world or a different dimesion. Title - no idea, sounds like some mystic verison of a Bond movie to me.

House update

We have had the kitchen and indeed all the plastering done downstairs and in the loft. We have also had the first fix plumbing for the kitchen and a promise that the plumber will be back sometime this week to do the bathroom in the loft. Hopefully the electrican will be back to do second fix on the electrics and the builder will remember to do the glazing on the windows.

This week I need to put in the underfloor heating, paint the room and sand the floor once I put it back down so nothing really !
